Coming back to your own country after a year of living somewhere else (particularly a radical, Islamic country) makes you appreciate the unappreciated. You get a bit sentimental. Whether it involves seeing family or friends, you can't help but get goosebumps over simple events. The supermarket becomes transcendental; the sane motorways sublime; efficiency in any form is lauded...
